HDTach Results - (2x) Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ 750GB RAID0 - 172MB/s!

A few of you have been wondering what kind of performance one could expect from two of Samsung's Spinpoint F1 750GB drives.  We've seen the results of the 1TB HD103UJ which utilizes only three high-density platters for exceptional throughput data rates.

I just did a fresh install of Vista Ultimate x64 on these new drives with Service Pack 1 and all updates installed.  I am using the 750GB Spinpoint F1 Desktop Edition drives, which are labeled HD753LJ (as compared to the HE753LJ Raid Edition that no one seems to be selling).  Here are my RAID0 results from the JMicron JMB363 RAID controller on my Abit IP35-Pro

As you can see, there's a significant performance increase that definitely justifies the cost of two 750GB drives over a single 1TB drive.  In addition, each drive has a 32MB cache, which gives up to 64MB of total cache when used in RAID.

So how do u like so far Samsung drives? I used so far mostly Seagate drives, but 750GB Samsung costs almost like 500GB Seagate so i'm going with that. I'm worried that they wont die on me.

I love these drives so far.  I haven't even gotten a chance to defragment them with Diskeeper 2008 and optimize the page file and they run like a dream.  Highly recommended.

This is good to hear, i hope they will be reliable and stay on the market. ATM prices of Samsung drives are incredible and we really needed some good healthy competition.

They are competing in the european market for ages?!
Of course there are always times where  batches of drives are not as good as expected, but every HD-manufacture has good and bad times

I use Samsung HDDs since 2002, because they were the first to concentrate on noise. While some tests claim Seagate's 7200.10 is quieter, I feel they are louder because their frequency range is more audible for me. Also the head-movements are louder compared to Samsung. With the F1 they also got the lead in speed, which is quite an achievement for a quiet silent drive And surprisingly the new drives won't get hot too.

Have to check if two Samsung F1 1TB in RAID 0 are faster

I got my 2x 1TB Samsung F1 some days ago, and successfully created raid0 on them last night.

But i'm only having 155 mb/s read speed, and when i compare to your results that's a bit "slow" i think

I sure have.  Read the post above yours  .  A simple defragmentation with JkDefrag gave me a 20MB/s boost.  I used to be at ~155MB/s just as you are.  For a more detailed scope, here's what you should do:

1)  Download CCleaner and use it everyday (right click your Recycle Bin > run CCleaner, instead of right clicking > Empty Trash)

2)  Download JkDefrag and use it weekly.  This free defragmentation tool is the best one I have used as of yet (after 4 years of playing with different programs)

3)  Disable any unnecessary services in Windows (Start > run > "services.msc")

4)  Run HD Tach one more time, and watch your drives report ~170MB/s
