NVIDIA GT200 : GeForce 9900GX2, 9900GTX & 9900GT In Q3 (July)

No, it's not some April Fool jokes. VR-Zone has learned that there will be two high end parts from Nvidia to replace the current GeForce 9800GX2 and 9800GTX in Q3. These two parts are GeForce 9900GTX and GeForce 9900GT based on the new GT200 architecture. GeForce 9800GX2 and GTX will have a short lifespan since they will be replaced in a couple of months time. Nvidia has positioned GeForce 9900GTX to replace 9800GX2 and this gave a clue that a single GT200 card will actually outperform a dual G92 card. Likewise for GeForce 9900GT, outperforming and replacing 9800GTX. CJ revealed to us that Nvidia will have a hard time fitting GT200 onto the PCB since the GPU is gonna be large and very power hungry so we can probably assume it is still 65nm based. The PCB for GT200 will be P651.

It is similar to today’s NV tactic: 9900GX2 just like todays 9800GX2, it is a two GPU product, and 9900GTX is a conventional single GPU product. Source mentions that both cards will be announce in July. In previous rumors, words have it that NV will improve G9X core by rolling out GT200. But detailed information still unknown.

first of all I believe its to early for any names and when the company say Q3 its rather late Q3 than early. You can expect these cards probably earliest in September if not even a bit later. they have to sell GX2's first and the five cycle of 3 months is simply not enough.

okay this is obviously coming out in a  somewhat negative tone becuase im more of an ati guy but isn't anyone else be pissed off that NVidea just keep die shrinking and renaming cards every month or so. I mean I would be pretty angry after splurging out so much money on a top end card to only realise that within a few months it's considered almost obselete. I realise that this happens in all aspects of technology but NVidea should at least give their customers the satisfaction of having "the best" GPU that money can buy for a considerable amount of time.

I agree it's too early to sell it that soon... GX2 needs to be sold and I guess besides some hardcore people it will not easy for nVidia to do so. 9800GTX just released... so I guess mid October is the right time to do it, because that's the time the channel need to be filled for x-mas madness.

Dude I've got to admit, you are terrible for being a member of the Fudzilla crew I have to give you that  .  The new cards will be based on GT200 architecture, not the "same shit."  Consider the quantum leap in performance from G71 to G80 between May 2006 and November 2006.  Now consider that happening again between March 2008 and July 2008.  Nuff said.

It will not be that much new compared to G71 and G80, be sure of that. "Same shit, just faster" is only a expression and not meant literally. If you write "quantum leap" - do you know what you are writing? Quantum leap is the smallest  leap possible in the quantum universe... Quantum leap means "quite nothing"... Before you say I'm so terrible, think before you write expressions which are meaning-less but often used by extremly dumb politicians.

I'm sorry, but you have the wrong definition.  You are referring to the scientific definition used in physics and mechanics, where I was referring to "quantum" as meaning a "measurable / countable amount" of difference.  In it's adjective form, it can also mean "significant."

You spoke of "quantum leap" which I consider as sientific only
Even I know in German they use the same shit to say "significant". Even if a dictionary states it and everyone speaks that way, it's still bullshit
