You write, that the standard cooler of the new 8800 GT is quite noisy. I'm a bit confused now, as Computerbase.de in their review [german with graphs] states the opposite: The 8800 is really silent, but gets quite hot.

So either one of you is wrong, or there are huge differences between different 8800 GT manufacturers.


Concerning the new Palit GFX, do you know when it will become available in central europe?

I think that Sanjin tested the cards with the cooler manually set to max RPM to keep the heat down. Anyway I still think it's an overstatement to say that the 8800GT is very loud, but I'd still go for a dual slot model just in case.

Ah, that might explain the difference, thanks.

And I agree with you that a model with decent cooling is a good idea, either the Palit with dual slot or the announced Gigabyte card with pre-installed Zalman fan.
