Who carez about 6GHz? That's nothing a "normal" user can expirience... besides the energy you need to cool such a monster...

Well yes, but, having 4 cores at 6GHz each on a Penryn (lower TDP / less power) is a great feat for anyone that wants to stand unique in the consumer crowd (example: "look what i can do with a processor that any one of us can buy!). It would be the same as if you were a building Legos as a little kid and you built something absolutely stunning out of the same set that each of your friends had - it's like taking the next step in the quest for individual accomplishment.

well of course it is. but it's also about success and accomplishment at the same time. for most people, money doesn't grow on trees, so when people have all this high-end equipment and i see the great wonders they've done with it, i will be one of the first to applaud cause i know it's hard to get to that position.
