I have creative x-fi Platinum and when i plug in a spdif input i dont hear any sound...
can anyone help me?

Also the sound card keeps comming up as new hardware when i start windows but its not .....
?

Did you adjust the SPDIF input settings accordingly in the Creative Audio Console?  Also, do you have your SPDIF input settings enabled in Control Panel?

Don't know anything about X-fi but you could reinstall the drivers if nothing works.
