behardware.com finishes their series on the return rates for graphics cards and GPUs. Again these stats are from a major French online store. They concern cards sold from March to August 2008, or in other words 6 months to 1 year of functioning. The statistics per brand are based on a minimum sample of 500 units sold.

- ASUSTeK: 2.0%
- Sapphire: 2.0%
- MSI: 2.1%
- Leadtek: 2.4%
- PNY: 2.8%
- Gainward: 3.2%
- Gigabyte: 3.6%
- Point Of View: 5.6%

The return rates are pretty much what we expected, with the exception of Point Of View for which they are notably up. If you look more closely at the less reliable models, you’ll see two cards at over 10% sold at 100 plus: the Gigabyte GV-RX26P5H, a Radeon HD 2600 passive, is at 14.1%, compared to 10.2% for the ASUSTeK ENGTX280/HTDP/1G. Looking at the return rates for GPUs, we get the following figures:

- GeForce GTX 280: 9.9%
- GeForce GTX 260: 4.3%
- GeForce GTX 9800: 3.2%
- GeForce 8800: 3.3%
- Radeon HD 4870: 3.2%
- Radeon HD 4850: 1.9%
- Radeon HD 3870: 2.6%

In spite of the high temperatures reached on the Radeon HD 4870/4850 they have pretty normal return rates. In contrast, the GTX 280s are not the most reliable of machines. When it comes to bi-GPU cards, you get a figure of 6% for the 9800 GX2, 11% for the 3870 X2 and 4.3% for the 4870 X2.
