Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: Temps in the ATI 4850 can be fixed

Bah, 45% is fine for an HD 4870, at 100% usage, my 4870 OC'd to 790/1100 never exceeds 65 Celsius. I've found that once you get over 50% on the fan, it begins to get whiny. Either way, the hotness of the HD 48X0 series can be directly contributed to the current drivers settings. IOW, the current cooler is fine, it just doesn't get set high enough by default.

Hardware / Graphics Cards / A question for Fudo about Larrabee

Hey Fudo, have you heard anything about this "amazing" solution that you can share with us? We've been hearing about it for sometime now, but news has been awfully scarce on it. What is it supposed to be exactly, is it a discrete graphics card or a cell like unit?

It would be great to have the option like on other sites to be able to comment on the article within the page itself. Its something that the Inquirer recently added and I find it enjoyable as I have on Anandtech to debate the news involved and I think it promotes understanding and discussion about the topic.

Hardware / Graphics Cards / Nvidia cutting prices, lol

Wow, I was surprised to read that Nvidia was cutting the prices on it's GT200 line. Man, 90 bucks off the GTX 280 huh? That will at least bring it to only twice the price of the HD 4870. Oh well, too bad Nvidia, I just returned my GTX 280 for the HD 4870 and pocketed the extra 450 bucks. Nvidia has lost it.
...and an Nvidia only buyer of 9 years. I like your stuff, but your business practices are officially smacked in the head.
