Hardware / Graphics Cards / ati's new drivers are full of sh**

I am stuck with the 7.5 drivers with my X1800XT. You guess why? Because i have HUGE FPS DROP with 7.6 AND 7.7 catalyst! I can play with FULL SETTINGS 1600x1200 World in Conflict beta and manage 20FPS , but with 7.7 i have barely 5 FPS! And in BF2142, 7.6 crashed the WHOLE PC every timeafter few minutes! I am asking: are they so focused to improve that little peace of AS* they made called Retarded600 (R600) to barely keep head with the GTS640mb, to leave the support of any other card and reducing the performances? I think so. And if this will keep on happening, well, i hope i will find the place where DAAMIT will be buried, so i can dance on those filthy bastard that leave support of a HIGH END GPU after only 2 years from it making.

And now FUDO wrote that it won't be a 65 nm card! 80nm!! Ati is over. No more high end market. At last for 1 year. I hope another GPU making home will be made, but i think it will take some years. Damned AMD, why the hell they had to buy and ruin ATI???

Dude you read the news about R600? More than 1ghz and less than a third of power consume! OMG this will make me buy one ASAP! Even 2 if my friend will buy my old X1800XT and give me 150 bucks! Seriously, ATI this time seem to be doing something reeeally brave, hope it will rock !

I do think that they soon noticed the delay (let's say in february) and had some low performance problems, so used the previous prokects, shrinked all to 65 nm and now they are doing the last work and mass production. They also whore that it is gonna have less power requirements, and higher clocks.Still we will have to see what will it do. I do think i will buy the R600 XTX (watercoooled if possible, or a cooler from artic cooler) and than upgrade my mobo, my CPU, and my RAM in the second quarter of 2008. I do still think that the good time to get a real DX10 card will be sometime near Q1 of 2009, if we are lucky. Indeed i will buy R600 because of its DX9 capabilities, no care of DX10. Also because i hate Vista and its RAM eating. I will buy that expensive money sucker on 2k8 or later, if there will still be any DX9 version of games (as there will be, because people won't upgrade to DX10 before 2 years).

I do think that they secretly made the 65 nm version, by just sayn' nothing about the real dimensio of the chip. I do think this is the why of the delay: simply not enough power. Still i do think that this could make an X2900XTX at more than even 800 mhz. 1Ghz frequency? I do think we can expect some great news, from now on!

Just googlin' around to find some facts aout r600, and i found out the real meaning of the delay! Ati is planning to shrink it at 65 nm! Here is the link to italian page (i am itailan so here how i read it! ) http://forumtgmonline.futuregamer.it/vb/showthread.php?t=64770&page=12For anyone who simply cannot read the Dante's language, you will find in the ''link immagini'' a link to a page with pics of R600 demo, and on the link upper the page, written in german (cannot read it) in which the news is confirmed. I farsee that this long wait won't be a waste of time. Fudo, please unleash your investigative powers, and inform us!

I have a X1800XT, and company of heroes run as good as heaven! I mean that it has no problem, no slow down. Just the shadows are off, other settings are all maxed. It has the graphic of call of duty 2, but it's an RTS. Ea should stop using old engines, do some shiny textures (if any) and just a couple of shader effects, and call it a new engine. I was disappointed because of this low graphic.

Hardware / Graphics Cards / 7.2 performance boost?
|
on: March 14, 2007, 03:23:51 PM

I just noticed that i can run R6 vegas with 1600x1200 with no shadows but other settings maxed. I have a X1800XT @ 716-1640. Not a too overclocked card. I also have an athlon 3500+ and 2 gb of ram ddr400. I could not run R6 at full 1600x1200, not even with HDR off. I had to cut it at 1024x768 and no shadows to max other settings. The strange thing is that, while i cannot use the shadow anyway (i got few pixel shader, their not enough) i can set everythng else at high settings and 1600x1200 (sometimes FPS are not more than 25, but average is 30). So i am asking if anyone noticed a boost in performance since 7.2 catalyst. Also notice my R6 version is last 1.04 one. Any clue?
