1  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: Could a 6 x 3870 GPU Crossfire be possible...? on: April 24, 2008, 12:53:11 PM
Its not only a mobo, but a case with enough expansion slots. I just bought the new Lian Li PC-P80. This case comes with 10 expansion slots instead of 7. It also has 12 5.25 drive bays.Holds six HDDs with both HDD cages included, and has alot of room. Expensive, yes but you do get what you pay for. It has 3 / 140mm fans on the front door with a tabed filter that you can wash.there's also another 140mm on the top and a 120mm rear,It also comes with a built in fan controller for the 4 / 140mm fans. Price runs from $379 - $399.99

i'd go for the thermaltake mozart tx.

10x 120mm fans, and enough room to support multiple water cooling loops, raids etc.

Also, it actually takes up less space than a typical case, as it puts the hard drives, and dvd drives above the motherboard not infront, so its footprint is small.

Enough room for two power supplies as well! you'll need that!

Diminishing returns.

Unless they started to dedicate a processor just to handling the load balancing and driver interaction etc.
3  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: Tim Sweeney talks about Unreal Engine 4.0 on: April 24, 2008, 12:48:40 PM
yep, hopefully they will have aa in there this time!!!

Sad though that consoles are becoming the primary development platform.

They should realise that console parts typically are a direct result from development on the pc and server side, which brings about the console parts, which in turns allows them to even consider development of UE4 etc.
4  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: four 9800GX2 cards: will it work? on: April 24, 2008, 12:38:43 PM
I really don't see you having an issue here.

You don't need sli support.

All you need is for a pc to recognise four dual gpu cards, which it will do, as its hardware, and your asking it to assign a driver, irq's and what not.

Is there any way you can borrow these cards to physically plug them in.

I see your scenario similar to can i have two gx2's, and two hd3870x2's in a system.

Answer should be yes no problem, but with driver limitations of not being able to enable support for functions you do not even need (sli/ crossfire).

5  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: ATI R700 has 800 SPUs? on: April 24, 2008, 12:30:03 PM

Whats really getting me is how everyone keeps harping on about a 256bit+ memory interface.

R600 had 512 and 1024 internal, and it simply made naff all difference. Let down by not only under utilised "stream" processors, but by the fact rv670 met in terms of performance on a 256 memory bus, and they could have done rv670 easier than r600 on 55nm.

Seeing as gddr5 is coming out with higher clocks, surely they may as well save cost on the interface, and pcb and jsut put a higher clock, more expensive memory instead?

If they can increase the stream processors even 20%, but double the clock as per nvidia they will make such a huge leap in performance, and maybe ati will become less "no aa\af= 1 card, aa\af = crossfire".

really hope they sort this out this time round, despite rv670's big success.
6  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: Nvidia GT200 Speculation and Opinion - September 2008 Release? on: April 24, 2008, 12:24:12 PM
that 45nm r700, sounds like rv670+ stream processors. Unless they have shoe horned in a different clock for those stream processors i am a little concerned on where my money will go next time.

oops, sorry off topic.

Fudo, what about people in uk, who have a crappy summer, enjoy it whilst it lasts (over the weekend), then go away september for cheap hols.

Oh, actually, that might jsut be me?
7  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: Upgrade now or wait for nehalm and get in cheap? on: April 24, 2008, 12:21:15 PM
Why dont you post up your specs?

Its really never worth waiting more than about 2 months for I.T.

i waited two montsh for r600, it turned out to be 9 months, and i only kept the card for 3>4 months before going 3870x2, which is what r600 was supposed to be to start with!.

as i understand it, these new cpu's aren't going to give you a massive boost over the best overclocked today with regards to gaming, so your best bet is to get probably the best cpu you can now, overclock it to its maximum stable amount, and then blow the rest on a gpu, and then jsut update the gpu every so often.

even now, i probably wouldn't wait for a 45nm quad, as they are hard to get. I'd go for a g0 q6600, as they hit 3.8 on water relatively easily, and will see you good for years to come. Especially seeing as until 32nm comes out, your not going to see these massive improvements in speed, more increments.
8  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / Suggestion / Re: Bookmarks. on: March 01, 2008, 06:18:27 PM
lmao nele.

Yep, fudzilla site should be like one of those "processing your transaction" site's where it just constantly re-loads. Save us a hell of alot of time (and rsi, and keyboards).

I bet my isp thinks its some kind of p2p with the traffic for that url lol.

Hey fudo, why not get some small stickers, seriously.

should be able to fit "FUDZ ME" on the stickers, or just your award logo thingy.

No delivery for that thingy yet, hopefully arrive monday, and i'll get it built for yu matey.

have a good weekend, fighting vista getting MOHA installed. Quick hint, remove ageia prior to installation, then update it afterwards......

Hey fudo, and all the rest of the team there.

Fudo admits he owe's me a new f5 key, probably a new keyboard for keeping so up todate with you guys!

Well done on your first year, and all the best for your own new year!!

Quick suggestion.

Wack a "make fudo my home" button on the page, there's a perfect spot on the right of "fudzilla" in the blue banner. Just a thought.

Besides that its great. The simplicity of the site is a great bonus, and deciphering your crazy english can be a right giggle when you spectauclary get it wrong, through either far too many corporate events, or rushing to get us the latest.

cheers to you,
