61  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: Nvidia GT200 Speculation and Opinion - September 2008 Release? on: March 02, 2008, 07:11:04 AM
these are still rumors and i learned to not believe in such rumors , does anyone remembers the rumors about R600 Cheesy
anyways , the only obvious thing is that all of the upcoming Cards are going to be power hogs and i don't like the sound of it . i know that they'll definitely will help to accelerate Global warming  Angry

i paid about 220$ for it i also bought a C2D 6600 (it was my first intel build ever ) i was loyal to AMD from K6 , so i betrayed AMD although it was always loyal to me .
(i was just running my opty 144 @ 2.7GHz) btw that Gigabyte board was the worst board ever it have got some sort of stability issues even in stock speed i was also unable to install any flavor of linux on this board because of gigabyte's stupid IDE chipset , so i sold everything and came back to AMD , I've bought 4400+ and Abit Fatal1ty AN9-32X which i changed it with Asus 690G , and I'm happy with it . I'll never get back to intel , even if AMD bankrupts and my only other choice would be VIA C7 , i wouldn't buy anything from intel ever again .
it's gaming performance was superior , but anything else was a mess Sad.

Beside the reboot-issue there were no important issues with the board at all - and yes, I got an 1.0 version :-)
We overclocked E6300 to 3.2GHz. Don't understand the complains. Next time check the Gigabyte-Forum where many people will help you, you'll find memory compatiblity lists, beta-BIOS and workarounds if there is a problem...

To move from one platform to an other is always an issue, because chipsets and CPUs behave different. I changed my system because I do lots of video-encoding and AMD was much slower even overclocked compared to Intel stock clocking... haven't time to wait ... one hour more or less, counts for me. I also feel Windows responding faster with Intel compared with AMD... but that's maybe only my feeling.

best,

Eliot.

I've got an Allendale 6300 with that board for about two weeks with that board , it was stable with it and overclocked well (after F5 Bios)I've overclocked it to 3.00 GHz with stock cooler , plus Gskill 4-4-4-12 Micron Memory , but the moment that i changed my processor to conroe , everything went wrong and the system wasn't even been able to work at the stock frequencies Smiley . I also used some forums at that time and saw everyone's complaining about this board + my main activity doesn't relied on windows , which this board wasn't even able to work with any distribution of Linux (at least in that time frame and of course with IDE ODD).
moreover it's my personal opinion , I'll never buy Gigabyte ever again , I just love Abit/ASUS/DFI boards so there's no hard feelings  Roll Eyes

I doubt that these massive heatpipes would make any differences from Thermalright's 6 pipe design or other competitors , the only difference which is obvious is
that this baby is overweight , he needs to do some exercises Cheesy
64  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / General Discussion / Re: UK prices are a joke! on: March 01, 2008, 09:09:47 PM
I don't know whether i should be glad to live in IRAN or not  Huh
some prices are just like jokes Iran just like 3870X2 prices which is above 650 US Dollars
but on the other hand some other things are so cheap that you can't even imagine , for example I've bought Razer Tarantula today for just 75 USD , or you can buy Razer copperhead for 30 USDollars , but you won't see any high-end price drops in here for example 8800Ultra still sells for about 950 Dollars
so you should be grateful even for living in UK Cheesy .

i moved from my opty 144 to intel about a year and half ago Cheesy with that stupid mainboard
unfortunately it was the only mainboard on the market which were able to support C2D at that time i mean out of the box support without bios update
i paid about 220$ for it i also bought a C2D 6600 (it was my first intel build ever ) i was loyal to AMD from K6 , so i betrayed AMD although it was always loyal to me .

66  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / General Discussion / Re: Anyone Reviewed the Sennheiser HD 485 Headphone? on: March 01, 2008, 07:11:47 PM
first of all , someone please move Coilers answer to some other topic Cheesy
secondly if you want less bass get 595 just like me Cheesy as a matter of fact my cheap 5$ Sennheiser mx300 earphones were much better in case of bass in comparision to my 595 .
i don't know , btw yours seems to be an attractive deal with that price , I'll consider that in my mind .
67  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / General Discussion / Re: Anyone Reviewed the Sennheiser HD 485 Headphone? on: March 01, 2008, 04:01:13 PM
I've got no idea about your headset , but i really love my 595 , it's great . although it's not very good with bases but it's just perfect for classical music .
68  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / Suggestion / Re: Congratulations on: March 01, 2008, 03:45:50 PM
i wanted to congratulated all the guys at Fudzilla.com for the great for in the news and also rumors Section Cheesy
but i also wanted to tell 'em that's pity for such a great site to have such a weak forums .
I'm visiting this site for about 10 months now but till today , i didn't even noticed that there's a Forum section for the site Smiley
I don't know maybe I'm just being a moron but the post anniversary made me realize that there's a Forum section Smiley .
By the way i hope this forum section get better everyday , I'll try to help as i can Smiley
P.S: I've got a suggestion for guys in fudo , i think you can add a link at the end of each article in the site which says something like the other sites did " discuss it on Forums. " or something like that , at least it will help readers notice forums Cheesy . i also liked the idea of making fudo my home page , I'll click on it  Cool
69  Hardware / Processors - CPU / Re: Phenom 9500 on AM2 rather than AM2+, any noticeable decrease in performance? on: March 01, 2008, 03:33:44 PM
here's the link that i was talking about

70  Hardware / Processors - CPU / Re: New upgrade on: March 01, 2008, 03:22:38 PM
 Grin
personal opinion , no offense .
first of all wiak is right , you can't use DDR-3 with AMD's current offerings and if you want to use DDR-3 and buy AMD processor you should wait till 09 and buy AMD 8 series of motherboards which are AM3 compatible.
plus i think that buying DDR3 right now isn't resonable , cause you can buy DDR2 quality memory at nearly no price , they're so cheap that we should say memory makers are giving them away for free Smiley , on the other hand you'll have to pay about five times of the price of the DDR2 for quality DDR3 memory , which you'll gain about 5% or less performance improvement , you also have to buy a pricey DDR3 motherboard as well which will cost you about 1.5 times of a mature DDR2 motherboard , plus DDR3 isn't mature enough you'll end up gaining nearly no performance because of high latencies of DDR3 memory .
i suggest you to take a look at Aanandtech's http://www.anandtech.com comparison between DDR2 and DDR3 before considering any purchases.

by the way don't wait for DDR3 on AMD.  Wink
71  Hardware / Processors - CPU / Re: Phenom 9500 on AM2 rather than AM2+, any noticeable decrease in performance? on: March 01, 2008, 03:12:11 PM
it's my personal opinion , so there's no offense
as far as I've studied about this case there should be as much as 5-10% performance gain from AM2+ compared to AM2 (including DDR2-1066 in to account).
but the point is that , in Phenom Processors the memory controller supposed to run at higher frequencies than the processor but it's not happening right now , I mean at least in first generation phenoms (B2 Stepping I mean) , and the memory controller is running in a lower frequency than the processor so theoretically there should be less than 5% performance gain from AM2+ but you should also add this to the fact that the mobos based on amd 7th generation chipsets are faster than those from the 6th generation , I've seen a comparison between two of them , the most significant improvements were in games .
so if you don't have any other choices , don't bother Smiley
plus you should pay about 100$ more for the 790Fx or about 50 dollars more for the 790X compared to mighty 690G (which you can find it as low as 50 USD) so the performance gain doesn't worth the price , you can get 9600 instead of 9500 with that kind of money .
btw i thought that I've seen some sort of benchmark which have been compared 690 against 790 with Phenom processor , I'll just search for it and I'll let you know if i found it  Wink
72  Software / Linux and others Unixoids / Re: Which distro? on: March 01, 2008, 03:02:32 PM
if you're still a newbie in linux i suggest you the ubuntu like others I can also suggest you to go for Linux One , Mandriva Linux One i mean .
the point is that it contains some sort of non-free content as well just like propriety Graphics drivers(ATI and NVIDIA) as well as MP3 codecs and Xine Engine.
i personally tried most of distro's RHEL , CentOS , Fedora ,Ubuntu , Debian , Parsix , Suse , Mandriva , Gentoo ....
but the one that i came back for were those based on precious Debian .
I'm currently using Debian since the new year i mean Smiley . before that i was just using Ubuntu Server from 6.10 .
the point is i found Debian more stable as well as faster . so i suggest you to try Debian you can find out more about it on
http://www.Debian.org/
another goood thing about Debian is that , it releases in 3 DVDs so these discs could be used as great repos  Smiley
