31  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: Tim Sweeney talks about Unreal Engine 4.0 on: March 13, 2008, 01:15:10 PM
I believe he's absolutely right , hopefully AMD/ATI merger will improve this situation ; at least it brought competition to integrated graphics market with it's 780G
32  Hardware / Processors - CPU / Re: Phenom Triple Core B3 on: March 13, 2008, 11:04:36 AM
as far as i know using barcelona core will bring Kernel panic to your computer , so as long as it haven't got fixed i won't buy one .
you can find more information on

33  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: CrossfireX driver. on: March 13, 2008, 11:02:50 AM
I guess nobody downloaded it. I will then! Shocked

Nobody is using the broken OS called "ME II"... So personaly AMD should f*k off with it's ME II features only...

best,

Eliot
I heard this ME II thing from Inquirer few months ago , I agree with you it is as stupid as Millennium Edition
34  Hardware / Others / Re: "iPhone 3" to use Intel's x86 Atom Processor? on: March 13, 2008, 10:56:07 AM
Then again, I could be wrong...no?

Who carez? iPhone is only for idiots who pay way too much for something nobody really needs, except some blokoes cracking the software. Apple is much worser than M$ ever was...

Btw: Atom is extremely slow and just single core. Even the cheapest 266MHz ARM can do dual-core Smiley

best,

Eliot.
I don't agree with you at all !!!
M$ is making the worst OS ever made , they see the issues and what will they do Huh
they won't reconstruct their OS , Why Huh Compatibility with older apps , what's the cost Huh
larger and larger windoze !! which is a memory hog which is slower than ever , they also do some innovations !!!
The windoze is JUST GUI based so look at their new windows 2008 Server Core , and you'll understand what I'm saying , apple saw the flaws in their own OS 9 Series so they've sacrificed compatibility and moved to Darwin core which is technically is a unixoid (it is based on FreeBSD 5) . moreover they understood the Gigahertz fever and moved to Intel although they've made PowerPC alliance . so they're not comparable to M$ .
the only reason that we're still stick to old and inefficient x86 CISC architecture is because of the M$ .
everyone knows that RISC architecture is more efficient than modest CISC architectures as you can see IBM Cell processors have got more processing power than even intel core micro architecture . moreover if you compare old mac G5s (which are at least 5 years older than Core2s) they are even competitive in the same clock .
the only reason that mac won't release OSX for standalone installation is just because of the support , I mean hardware support . the same situation that we're encountering in Linux .
VGA drivers are not mature , for example Geforce 2 Pro outperforms 7300GT & Radeon X1300 .
after 5 years you can't install Xfi drivers on linux easily ( although they've released a driver which you need to recompile the kernel from slab to slub and still it's not working properly)
and so on . so if Apple release it's OSX to market no one will be satisfied .

and about the iPhone , I wanted to buy a cellphone , so I looked around and found a couple of cellphone with 380 MHz ARM processors or 200 MHz version from either Nokia & SonyEricsson but they've performed so slow that i didn't wanted to even look at them i have to add that they're all using well known Symbian OS , more over mp3 playback was so poor that i didn't wanted to even listen to anykind of music keep in mind that for example Nokia N81 8GB or 5700 Speciality's are in music I even tried Sennheiser CX300 in earphone's and my own HD595 Headset with them , but when i touched iPhone i fell in love with it , it is as expensive as N81 (so it's not that expensive) it's music playback quality is superior to every cellphone it also is sleek and toooooo fast for a cellphone so why should I be stupid to buy one Huh
the only drawback is that it's not 3G and the bluetooth thing , which I can deal with 'em .

about Atom I agree with you , basically x86 isn't a good option for portable devices .
35  Hardware / Processors - CPU / Re: E8400 Heat problems on: March 11, 2008, 02:55:06 PM
For any owners, does anybody have problems like people claim?
http://www.techpowerup.com/index.php?51419

It's the BIOS which interprets the sensor, when I read something like this:
abit guru and my bios.. e6750.. at stock.. 18 C idle 38 C load.. artic pro cooler
abit guru and my bios.. e8400.. at stock.. 4 C idle 4C load.. artic pro cooler..
I have to laught very much... because he's an idiot if he believes such values. The values I got in my test you can see in my review, because I took lots of Everest screenshots, doesn't worry me.
He should get a good board with correct BIOS and shall not trust idiotic "off" temperatures. Everyone who does overclock should always set the fan to max speed when testing.

1st and 3rd screenshot is under load, 2nd and 4th is idle, look yourself:

maybe he've bought a refrigerator instead of CPU Cheesy , I don't know how do such people call their selves "overclockers" or "enthusiasts"
36  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: 8800 gt at PC Super Store for 243$ on: March 11, 2008, 04:54:13 AM
I realize that.  There were several other games being benchmarked in the review I pulled these stats out of, but I wanted to show Crysis for the sole purpose of the fact that yes, it isn't the best came to prove SLi performance with.
I remember that I've studied about both SLI and Crossfire sometime ago , from the technical point of view Fire is superior to SLi but the reason behind the fact that Fire doesn't scale well most of the times is because of nVidian's strategy !!! The way it meant to be played , bla bla bla !!!
moreover you can't even play Crysis with 3*8800 Ultra in a reasonable resolution so you shouldn't refer to it as reference , moreover it doesn't scale that well with SLi as well .
37  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: ATI R700 has 800 SPUs? on: March 08, 2008, 12:28:18 PM
I hope this RV770 get some success other wise you can say AMD goodbye  Cry
38  Hardware / Notebooks / Re: MSI GX600 on: March 08, 2008, 12:26:55 PM
I believe it's a good marketing idea and it's nothing useful , just like Intel HT or Virtualization for Gamers Smiley
I personally believe underclocking is much interesting that over cocking these days Smiley. undervoltaging is a neat idea as well  Grin
39  Software / Windows / Re: Vista has limit of 52 opened windows on: March 07, 2008, 09:44:05 AM
Yeah dude, I agree, what do you do with 30 windows open? Catch a cold? Wink
I don't know what do I do , but sometimes I realized that I've opened more than 30 windows at once , let me count 'em for you Smiley
3 Firefox windoows , epiphany , Opera , Bluefish , 10 Nautilus windows , 2 Gedit Windows , 4 Terminals , 1 Calculators , 1 GIMP , 3 Skype windows , Pidgin , Transmission window , 2 Evience window , although it's not always like this but I assure you sometimes it's even more , hopefully I'm not encountering any sort of window limitation on my Debian box Smiley .
40  Hardware / Power Supply - PSU / Re: Dell PSU on: March 07, 2008, 06:09:59 AM
Eliot <- 1 l - it doesn't work like that , it works more likely like this
22*12*(.7-.Cool = 184-211 Watts
although I'm not pretty sure but I'm telling you it doesn't work like that just for a simple reason
I've got a 600W thoughpower which rates 4 rails 18 Amps each and by measurements it should supply
18*12*4= 864 Watts just on 12 Volts rails , lol

4 x 18 does not work Smiley it's 18A on one rail when  max. wattage of all 12V rails does not exceeds xy W.
22x12 will work, when specified so, if 22A is peak and 18A is continous... it will not work...

best,

Eliot
so you're telling me that 18 Amps is the max load amp and that 22 Amps is continues operation Amperage Huh
my PSU didn't mention 18 Amps is the max load amperage , i really don't know , maybe it's just marketing strategy , cause even on thoughpower 750W you'll see the same sticker Smiley
41  Software / Programs / Re: IE8 on: March 06, 2008, 05:10:56 PM
Word is that MS will finally follow all standards in IE 8, that cannot be bad thing. Consumers really pushed Microsoft hard with non accepting everything Microsoft throws at them. I can only say keep up the good work and maybe soon Microsoft will start listening their consumers.

I personally like and use Mozilla Firefox and every page works just fine with it.
I wish you were in my shoes !!!!
in my country most of the pages just have been written IE compatible for example my university's website is a good example , it just opens with IE , and it's a very famous one btw .
maybe that's why world call us third world country Smiley

43  Hardware / Power Supply - PSU / Re: Dell PSU on: March 06, 2008, 08:53:14 AM
Well I have a pentium D 920, 2 gig DDR2 @ 667mhz, X600 128mb, 250HDD. I used the psu calculator thing and I won't use over 300 watts but im worried about the 22amps.

22A x 12V = 264W

D920 is quite powerhungry... 95W Intel TDP -> max. ~ 130W, so you have about 130W left for the rest.

best,

Eliot

44  Software / Programs / Re: IE8 on: March 06, 2008, 08:48:08 AM
IE8 is just like a joke , it's as stupid as latest versions of Netscape navigator , you'll have to options to browse the web , with support of web standards which will act like firefox 3 or safari , second option is without web standards which will act like IE7 , I don't know when will microsoft leave the browser area , I bet if it wasn't preinstallled on windows it's market share would be as low as Opera Smiley
