we dont have any problem with temp max temp was  55c , it was more under 50c

i remember that plastic fiber behind the motherboard got melted because of the heat of vrm etc
it was fun
the power regulators got as hot as 110 Degree Cecilius or even more .
also we managed to overclock this monster without multiplier to around 4 GHz , at least CPUz Stable
anyway , I'm dying to be able to buy one of these phenoms

I have been waiting for the Q9550 since August 2007, and due to a complete patience meltdown and several other factors, I ended up scoring a new retail QX9650 for $700 at the AnandTech trading forums. However, my question is this. According to Fudzilla, the Q9650 3.0GHz (9x multi) is expected to launch in Q3 for $525. The Q9550 2.83GHz is priced at $530 and is in very very small quantity production at the moment. It is barely trickling its way into the European market with less than half a handful in the US market. What is to be the ultimate fate of this CPU if the Q9650 is just around the corner at a cheaper "per 1000 units" price tag?

i think the price of 9550 will drop by the time of q9650 launch , it's quite simple

Howdy. This is in response to the Fudzilla article: Nvidia's and ATI's problem in the war against Intel are FABs

TSMC is actually doing really fine for Nvidia and ATI in the last few years but it is traditionally at least one year or more behind Intel’s process transition.

TSMC currently doesn’t offer 45nm production while Intel does. Intel will be roughly year ahead of TSMC before this Taiwanese FAB is ready to start its 45nm production as if we remember correctly TSMC plans the GPU 45nm production in early 2009.

So, Fudzilla claims Intel is a year ahead, but Xbit's article would suggest TSMC was actually "ahead" in the manufacturing process. My question is, who got it right? From the sound of Xbit's article TSMC would have 40nm capability around the time Intel would have a total of four 45nm FABs up and running this Q3-Q4, just in time for Nehalem.

i believe فؤاد is right like always  , 45nm to 40nm is just an optical shrink just like 65nm to 55nm moreover TSMC haven't switched to High-k yet in addition to that no one have financial resources as intel have at least right now , intel will switch to 32nm in 2009 but TSMC is going for 45nm at the beginning of 2009 , so i believe fudo's right

anyhow, i don't think that larrabee have any chances against ATI and nVIDIA at least from the driver aspect of view . in addition no one will trust intel graphics , everyone hates it

if we consider the cost of R&D and also the advertisement for Geforce 5800 , it's far more than expensive

once you've been screwed over by raid it's hard to go back and you don't really need the extra speed when your only using the storage for movies

Hey guys, i think Doom 3 is still lot playable.... coz many ppl still donot have hardware which can easily support games like Crysis, Doom3 is still lot popular.... also the new mods like last man standing, etc make the game worth playing...

if that's the case , i still prefer Quake 3 , and also OpenArena for sure

is ddr3 really the way to go? I'm not just talking about price but mainly the actual performance because everything I've read openly indicates that monitoring the performance of ddr2 to ddr3  is still unclear and indecisive and while ddr3 can hit highier frequencies the latencies are still a bit wigged out?

Yea he talked about future upgrade options, and we talked performance wise. I think that with today technology if you do not look at upgrade options (promotion of new product every 3-6 months) you can avoid upgrading for few years. Gains from one technology to another are not so substantial like it was before. Around 10 to maybe 30 per cent at best, that why i like more AMD they do not switch to new technology every few months. Latencies are high, they cost few times more than DDR2 and only good thing is they need lower voltage to work. Like my friend needed to have newest DDR2 memory 2 years ago, he payed 800€ for 4GB of ram, now those 4GB of ram with lower latency costs 80€.

i still prefer old and beloved DDR , with really low latencies , lol .
it's wiser to pay 1/5 - 1/10 of the money for DDR2 instead of DDR3 right now , because the performance that you'll gain with 5 to ten times of money is just about 1/10 - 1/20 , so if you even think about it upgrade wise ,you'll see it's not reasonable either , because you'll save about for example 500$ and in 2 years from now DDR3 prices have became half or 1/3 or even less than current price , so you'd be able buy Ram and Mobo with that kind of money,


moreover if you invest your money in my country's banks you'll end up with 17.5% of interest each year , and the dollar value is constant so you'll end up saving about 150$  lol

but seriously it's stupid to buy DDR3 right now

i think they can actually, well as far as i know asus released a new reflash for the striker that can support the wolfdale quads except for the extreme editions? Or so someone on whirlpool claimed?

just found it funny on what people were guessing on what gear you needed to run crysis caus crysis is without a doubt one of the most OVERATED and HYPED up games ever. The only interesting thing to come out of it is the engine which will hopefully replace unreal's  engine glossy style

the thing about unreal engine is that it can easily ported to consoles , and it's alot faster than resource consuming crysis engine , so at least with current hardware and current generation of console's crysis isn't even a threat to UE4

is it safer to buy a new evga 780 board from a store or buy a new  680i asus striker of ebay? Is there any reall difference between them?

surely there's , 780 & 680 have got same specification except for one major thing , which is that 680i can't support intel's 45nm processors , which is a major disadvantage .
