31  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / Suggestion / Re: Copyrights and Ownership of news and images. on: March 26, 2008, 01:12:02 PM
I noticed a disturbing trend in news reflector sites putting watermarks on images provided by major companies. Take the latest releases from Intel on the Nehalem platform. Many sites including The Fud are not crediting these details to the source but instead watermarking images and positing quotes without representation of the source. Borderline plagiarism or violations of copyright materials. If Fud sends reporters out to snap pictures of IDF and other shows, then you have the right to watermark your footage. Most of the stories I read here are posted elsewhere but the links are not provided to the details that I want to read. This and other sites are convenient to get the latest stories but lets move Fud above the crowd of echo-soundbite rags.

I'm in the tech field and a lot of up and coming hardware affects what we do in creating future software applications. The Fud has been on top of the latest but please provide the links to general sources so we don't have to weed through all the sales garbage on the net to locate accurate details.

Well, when we can, we link to the source, but as you already know, we simply can't reveal the source for a lot of our stuff. As for watermarking, many sites use our content without our consent and we have to protect the work of our authors as it usually takes a lot of effort to get the stuff we watermark. We rarely quote unnamed officials, but when we do it is at their explicit request and that's a common practice in all publications. I'm not saying that there's no room for improvement, but sometime it's just very hard to provide adequate sources due to the aforementioned constraints. We know that is sometimes doesn't go down well with the readers, but the only option is not to publish such stories at all until getting official confirmation, and that, well, isn't an option. Our readers demand the latest news, that's why they come to Fudz in the first place. Thanks for your comment.
32  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: GeForce 9800GX2 / 8800Ultra Comparison - Is there REALLY Any Benefit? on: March 16, 2008, 08:04:32 PM
we should have some single and dual scores shortly eta this week

Are you guys going to post some official benchmarks on Monday night or Tuesday morning?  Monday would be great, but then again that's just me (and, oh..the majority  Cheesy).  Here is my favor to ask of you Fudo:  I need you to convince the world that the GX2 really is a top-notch and stellar performing card, as I believe it is based on the subtle hints you have posted on the internet.

Personally, I think Nvidia is gonna need a miracle to convince the world that the GX2 is worth buying at the MSRP.

It just doesn't feel right...

The price is what counts - if should end up at 110-120 euro it sounds like a nice deal for people who can utilize the 3rd core. Intel's E4700 goes for that kind of money, but it's probably still a better choice for gamers.
34  Hardware / Graphics Cards / Re: PNY GeForce 9800GX2 Available for Preorder - $598.41! on: March 10, 2008, 06:24:15 PM
I wouldn't rush out to buy something that is basically two 8800GT's sandwiched together for $600. You have no idea what clocks it's using or what kind of cooling solution (stock or custom) it has. On top of that, it's has two GPUs, and Nvidia will have to make driver tweaks for each game. If you're an Nvidia devotee, then save your money for the next-gen card that comes out in September-October.

The thing that worries me is the sandwich design and cooling. I don't think it's gonna be possible to OC it properly without a waterblock and at such a price a 2 card config just makes more sense, at least if you're not into watercooling. The fact that the next generation will appear in months doesn't help either.

I think ATI did a good job with its 3870X2... Performance aside, it's much cheaper, easier to cool and OC, but price is the real issue here. With the next generation around the corner it will be much easier to convince someone to get a 330 euro card instead of a 550 euro sandwich...

Anyway, it will still be the fastest card out there and that will sell it, but I'm really not sure about the number of potential customers and profit. At least it will win Nvidia its bragging rights back, as it will dethrone ATI once again.

I'm no expert on this particular issue, but still I gotta say I expected a bit more... Just marginally better than a Tualatin ?

Thanks for the feedback. If only everyone was ready to share his opinion and personal experience about products they have used or encountered...

38  Hardware / Chipsets / Re: What Chipset are you currently running, anything goes! on: March 03, 2008, 02:56:29 PM
690G Rules  Cool

HDMI is probably the only reason I got it. Great choice for cheap machines and HTPCs.

P35 and 690G

rofl who uses a 220v outlet for their PC?  I just think that's overkill in my opinion.

Europe for example...
41  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / General Discussion / Re: Happy birthday! on: March 01, 2008, 06:18:35 PM
Happy birthday Fudzilla,
Yeah I really enjoy the news posted here. Short and easy to read especially in a bust IT world. We not many people believe in Fudzilla news but I believe in it.

Well, we're always right (almost). If they choose not to believe us, they're at a loss, not us. Cheesy
42  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / Suggestion / Re: Bookmarks. on: March 01, 2008, 05:34:08 PM
Hey fudo, and all the rest of the team there.

Fudo admits he owe's me a new f5 key, probably a new keyboard for keeping so up todate with you guys!

Well done on your first year, and all the best for your own new year!!

Quick suggestion.

Wack a "make fudo my home" button on the page, there's a perfect spot on the right of "fudzilla" in the blue banner. Just a thought.

Besides that its great. The simplicity of the site is a great bonus, and deciphering your crazy english can be a right giggle when you spectauclary get it wrong, through either far too many corporate events, or rushing to get us the latest.

cheers to you,

Ah, so you're the one ! Fudo told me about your F5 issue. We're looking into it and currently considering 3 options: an F5 key made out of fine Bosnian oak, engraved copper or some Dalmatian marble.

Gold is too expensive at the moment, so you'll have to wait for the U.S. economy to pick up... Sorry
43  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / General Discussion / Re: Welcome on: March 01, 2008, 05:24:38 PM
i registered today because of the comp. I didnt realise fudzilla was only 1 year old, i have been reading it every day for that long!

great site, i esp like how you give prices in pounds and euros.

the forum looks very generic atm though, would be better with a theme imo.

Yup, better looks would help, but in the end content is what really matters...
44  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / General Discussion / Re: UK prices are a joke! on: November 28, 2007, 03:13:48 PM
Well, things are just as bad in the rest of Europe, but you guys are the worst off, no doubt.
45  Welcome to Fudzilla Forum / Discussion about Articles / Re: XpertView's HD 3870 pictured on: November 15, 2007, 02:48:29 PM
