GTX, GT and GS

Nvidia is thinking about rebranding its cards again. Since the company doesn’t actually have new chips, they think that if you rebrand the same chip more than a few times, people might forget it’s the same product.

The new branding strategy that is still under consideration might actually divide all cards in three categories. This should solve the problem that Nvidia currently has with 9800 GTX and 9800GTX+ as these cards have different chip but its very hard for end users to know that. Nvidia's roadmap was never as messy as today and this is their solution for the problem.

The high end will be branded Geforce GTX and a number, something that they introduced with GTX 280 and GTX 260, mainstream will become Geforce GT and a number while entry level should be branded as Geforce GS and a number. We don’t know when they will do it but they are seriously thinking about it.

It still doesn’t really help Nvidia as they have to educate the market what GTX, GT and GS really means.
