In pre-production packaging

A Taiwanese forum has gotten their hands on what either looks like a review sample or a sample meant for one of Intel's motherboard partners in a pre-retail box of the Core i7 Extreme Edition 965 and has kindly taken a fair few pictures of it.

The CPU cooler appears to have been changed once again, or it could possibly just be that the Extreme Edition is getting a better cooler than the 940 and 920 Core i7's, as the cooler on the pictures is made out of both copper and aluminium with what appears to be a solid copper core.

The CPU itself looks just like any other CPU, just bigger and there are pictures comparing it to a socket 775 and 478 processor and it really looks like a monster in comparison.

You can find the pictures here.
