Few Puma notebooks available

More than
a month after the Puma launch there are still very few models actually available on the market. We already wrote about MSI and FSC machines here and here.

At the Puma launch AMD told us to expect a flood of Puma based notebooks in the last week of June, but this flood has failed to materialize. AMD clams 92 design wins for its new mobile platform, but at the moment there's no flood to speak of. You might call it a trickle, and a small one at best.

So far it seems only FSC and MSI were truly ready for Puma, having launched their models right after the Puma launch and they're still the only Puma machines available in the EU. Other notebook vendors don't seem to be in much of a hurry, and even FSC and MSI have just a handful of Puma SKUs in the channel.

We're hoping things will pick up in the next month or two. Although Puma is not the most attractive marchitecture out there it is priced rather well and should have some market success, especially in the DTR market segment.
