Computex 08:  We touched it

We had a chance to see Geforce GTX 280, and we can tell you that this 600MHz 65nm chip tends to get rather hot.

Its dual-slot cooler manages to keep the card at the acceptable levels; but the GPU temperature tends to get around 70 degrees Celsius close to the GPU, and externally at the back of this nicely designed black card we are talking about probably even more.

We couldn't keep our hand on the back of the card for more than 3 to 4 seconds and we can tell that this card is as hot as Radeon 4850 with its tiny single-slot cooler.

If you are concerned, don’t be, as it works stable and it is not that much hotter than Geforce 9800 GX2 with its two GPUs.

At the end of the day, this chip is almost two times G92 placed in the same packaging with a funky 512-bit memory controller.
