WiFi and integrated graphics problems

This Tuesday, Intel announced that they will delay their “Montevina” Centrino 2 mobile chips due to technical and certification problems. The certification problems come from WiFi, caused by filing and testing wireless antennas, and are purely a paperwork issue, whereas the technical difficulties are concerned with Centrino 2 chipsets.

As far as WiFi problems go, apparently there were some problems with FCC and other government organizations such as Canada’s IC.

Due to technical issues with “Cantiga” chipset and its integrated graphics, on the 14th of July Intel plans to release a chipset without their latest integrated graphics. To be more precise, there will be no integrated graphics solution, and the GM version with integrated graphics won’t be here until early August. When it does arrive, it will feature two Intel’s graphics – GM45 and GM47.

So, on 14th of July, Intel also plans on launching T and X (Extreme) series of processors as well as some chipsets, whereas the rest of Centrino 2 components will arrive later.
