Soon-ish

We learned that Intel is about to release a new stepping for its Yorkfield quad-core CPUs. The name will be R0-stepping and this new stepping should be better than the current C1-stepping.

The new stepping will arrive with a new batch of Yorkfield CPUs, and let’s hope that this will increase the yields and efficiency of a pair of dual-core 45nm stitched together into a quad-core socket 775 CPU.

As we still don’t know what kind of improvement you should expect from it, we're expecting slightly better TDP and thermals, but this doesn’t have to be the case.
