Rumour and speculation

AMD is denying that there will be a delay in shipping its Phenom line of processors.

Rumours started circulating after Digitimes claimed that the manufacturer had "already notified several motherboard makers that Phenom will now begin test-production in November or December, and will launch in first quarter of 2008."

However, in a statement today AMD remains adamant that the range will hit the market this year.

A company spokesman said that previous delays were due to the manufacturer improving performance of the CPU in order to compete against Intel's Penryn processors.
