No Six-core Sandy for early 2011

The brand new 32nm successor of Nehalem processor generation will launch as dual or quad core. At this time there won’t be any six core CPUs based on it. It looks like the six-core generation will remain Nehalem based and Gulftown might live beyond Q1 2011 before it gets replaced with something else.

After all, Gulftown Core i7 980X and its potential successors are based on the new 32nm process but they still retain Nehalem fundaments.

Sandy Bridge will aim to replace Clarkdale and Lynnfield / Nehalem quad cores and, naturally, Sandy Bridge will launch in mobile versions.

From this angle you should look at Arrandale / Clardale dual-cores 32nm as the first step in global transition to 32nm and Sandy Bridge as the real genuine 32nm architecture.
