Best case scenario

Our industry sources were busy and we got wind that the possible launch of Cedar Trail-D platform might take place in either late Q3 2011 or early Q4 2011.

By this time the platform should be finalized, and this includes bios and drivers, CPU and motherboard, including all the other collaterals that they have to take in account.

With this in mind, it looks that there will be more than a year and a half before Pine Trail-D, Atom 2010 platform gets replaced with Cedar Trail-D. Pine Trail-D will definitely have unusually long product life, but we are sure that Intel can come up with some faster version with some minor refresh at some point in the next year and a half.

When it launches, Cedarview-D will at least be in 32nm and offer higher clocks than Pineview-D.
