AMD-based 1201T coming soon
According to Notebookitalia, in a blatant act of heresy Asus will soon
its first netbook powered by AMD's thin'n'light Congo platform, the Eee
PC 1201T.
We're not sure whether the 1201T should be called a netbook, as it
features a 12-inch 1366x768 screen, 2GB of memory and 250GB of storage
and somewhat more serious silicon than Intel netbooks. It's powered by
AMD's single-core Athlon Neo MV-40, clocked at 1.6GHz and it features
AMD's 7xx chipset with Radeon HD 3200 graphics.
There is still no word on a possible dual-core version, which could
wipe the floor with any Atom, and there's no word on pricing yet.
Similar AMD Neo notebooks usually cost quite a bit less than comparable
Intel CULV models, but they are a bit pricier than Atoms.
