Last shipment in Q3 2010

AMD plans to get rid of its quite power hungry Phenom II X4 965 with a 140W TDP as it already plans to set the last order time for late Q1 2010. Usually after this announcement, AMD ships last order two quarters later, and this CPU is not an exception.

Its final shipment orders should leave AMD warehouses by late Q3 2010. Since AMD already started to ship 125W version of the same CPU, and sells it for the same price, the end of life of the 140W part was just the matter of time.

AMD plans to ship 125W Phenom II X4 965 until Q4 2010 when it plans to take last orders and it should get rid of this CPU some two quarters later.  AMD's Thuban six-core CPU should take over the performance crown, but that is in Q2 2010 when it launches.
