Still likely for a Q2 2010 release

The latest news from the StarCraft II front is that despite suggestions that a beta for the long awaited sequel will arrive before the end of the year, this is simply not the case. We can confirm that there are no plans for the StarCraft II beta to arrive this year. Sources do tell us, however, that it is likely that the beta will arrive early in 2010, with a release in late January or early February very likely.

While delays are nothing new in the world of StarCraft, it would appear that at least as of right now our sources tell us that a release Q2 2010 is still on track. An actual firm release date for StarCraft II has yet to be confirmed by developer Blizzard. It is unclear what has caused the latest delays, but it does seem that the company is committed to releasing it next year at some point.
