PS3 users soon to enjoy Netflix streaming

A variety of sources have contacted us today to let us know that the requested Netflix playback disc that is required for the PlayStation 3 has shipped. According to what we are hearing, some of our sources are expecting the disc to arrive in the mail later today.

The playback disc is necessary to allow and enable Netflix streaming on the PlayStation 3 platform. The company recently announced that it would start taking requests for the disc that is required to enable the streaming playback on the PlayStation 3 platform. Initial reaction from customers has been positive, according to our sources.

Sources continue to insist that an integrated XMB application for the PlayStation 3 to allow Netflix playback is on track for release next year, but no additional details on when it will arrive have been forthcoming beyond the fact that it is on the agenda and it is in development.
