Eight titles and engines promised for 2010
The release of
the first graphics architecture to support Microsoft’s DirectX 11 has been
followed with widespread adoption as AMD achieves a successful first strike in the
next generation GPU hardware battle. Meanwhile, many eager consumers have been keeping
close watch for any solid confirmations regarding software titles to
successfully implement the new rendering API.

Several gaming-oriented sites on the net have released evidence
of confirmation from AMD that over twenty DirectX 11 titles are currently in
development, with one already available and two more releasing before the end
of Q4 2009. Before the end of this year, the list includes the now-available freeware
title Battleforge (EA), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (GSC), and Dirt 2 (CodeMasters).

It seems that AMD’s list has a time-sensitive release date
mishap in regards to the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R. title, which has recently been
delayed until Q1 2010. On another note, we can expect to see the latest Alien vs.
Predator glimmer in DirectX 11 glory in a few months this coming February. Around
the same timeframe, Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online:
Eberron Unlimited will receive patch
updates to support the new graphics rendering API, but we wouldn't count on
a significant quality boosts. Finally, we can expect China’s popular MMORPG-market title Genghis Khan to receive a graphics API update as well.

In addition to games, several engines will be supporting
DirectX 11 in 2010 including the Frostbite 2 Engine (EA DICE), Uniengine Engine
(Uniengine), Vision Engine (Trinigy), and the highly anticipated CryEngine 3 (CryTek).
