Medion cooks up AMD-based netbook |

Sempron U210 in a 11.6-inch chassis
Medion, maker of cheap notebooks sold mainly in German supermarkets,
has come up with an 11.6-inch AMD-based netbook, if you can call it
that as AMD believes netbooks don't exist.
The Medion Akoya E1311 is based on AMD's Neo platform, it's powered by
a 1.4GHz Sempron U210, has Radeon X1250 graphics with HDMI out, 1GB of
memory and 160GB of storage. Connectivity isn't an issue with draft-n
wireless and Bluetooth.
It's interesting to see more and more vendors opt for AMD's Neo
platform, which is a tad cheaper than Intel's ULV parts, but it offers
inferior battery life.
The E1311 is available in black or white, and its MSRP is €429, but we
have a feeling it will sell for under €399 sooner rather than later.
