10 million in 2010

Samsung
seems to be taking its notebook business quite seriously, and it is hoping to double shipments in a single year.

The outfit shipped 1.09 million notebooks in Q2, and it hopes to ship a total of 4.5 million units this year. However, it apparently hopes to double its shipments and churn out 10 million units next year, including 7 million netbooks.

The company hopes deals with telecoms will boost sales of its netbooks, and as it already has a foothold in the phone market, it probably knows a thing or two about dealing with telcos.

Samsung is still trailing behind Apple and Asus, which shipped 3.2 and 4.1 million notebooks in the first six months of the year respectively.
