Cheap 2.93GHz Wolfdale

Intel will introduce a new Wolfdale-based dual-core sometime next week, and at $84, the new 45nm part sounds like a good deal.

The E6500 runs at 2.93GHz, FSB1066, and it has 2MB of cache, while its TDP is a rated at a comfortable 65W. It's expected to launch on August 9 or 10, and it will coexist with the E6300 which now sells for around $70.

It's not a spectacular piece of silicone, but a Wolfdale at just under 3GHz for $84 is a rather good deal.
