January 2010

It seems
Intel won't launch its new Pineview Atom N450 in Q4 after all. According to some rather fresh info, N450 is now pushed back to Q1, or January to be precise.

The move doesn't come as much surprise, as recently we saw numerous reports of vendors sticking to N270/Z530 parts on their netbooks in 2009, and not planning to go Pineview until early 2010.

Although the new two-chip Atom platform will offer quite a few improvements over its predecessor, including a significantly smaller footprint and lower TDP, vendors don't seem to keen to embrace it. It doesn't offer much in terms of performance, as it will still be clocked at 1.66GHz, like the N280, and its memory and FSB probably won't befaster than on its predecessor.

Intel is expected to EOL its first generation N-series Atoms in Q1 2010.
