$100 price cut possible

In a conference call for the investors over the pond, Sony's CEO and Executive VP, Nobuyuki Oneda said that PS3 manufacturing costs have dropped by as much as 70%.

He added how the cost reductions have been substantial and on schedule, but despite his initial reluctance to give any figures, in the end he caved in and said that it's about 70%.

Since the PS3's original price was about $800, and a 70% production cost drop would bring the cost to $240 per unit, which would surely make the rumored $100 cut possible.
