Strange marketing anomalies of our time

For some reason the Koreans have developed a hatred of Microsoft's new search engine Bing.

While Bing has been doing quite well over the pond, in Korea they are ignoring it in droves. To be fair to Microsoft, the Koreans don't much like Google and Yahoo either. Instead they prefer their local counterparts Naver and Daum.

According to Internet data firm StatCounter, Bing in Korea is available only in beta version and most of the new features on Bing are only available in the US version. The only reason Bing is even getting a look-in in Korea is because users can access “adult sites” without having to go through adult identification log-ins. More than half Bing searches in Korea were 'adult related'.

It is not clear why the Koreans have got it in for western search engines. Just one of those anomalies of a global market.
