Wireless carriers want too much
cash
While Amazon's Kindle is selling out fast in the rest of the world,
the outfit is still having trouble making deals in Germany.
According to
people close to Amazon, the German wireless carriers simply want too much
cash to run the service. T-Mobile and Vodafone have been hanging out for more
cash according to the German news site WirtschftsWoche. Amazon thinks the
prices they want to provide the service are excessive. Talks have apparently
broken down.
Europe is currently home for the Sony Reader and had not been
part of the Kindle glorious revolution. This is because Amazon seemed unable
to negotiate a pan European contract because there were so many
suppliers.
Apparently it was concerned that people would get miffed if they
could not read their favourite Jackie Collins while they were on holiday.
