The SX and DX series

After the launch of its LT, AMD based 11.6-inch netbook yesterday, Gateway has announced two new desktop series, the DX and SX.

The new small form factor SX series will start off with the entry level Gateway SX2800-01, a US $499.99 desktop system that features an Intel Core 2 Quad 8200 CPU at 2.33GHz, 4GB of DDR3 memory, Intel's GMA X4500 integrated graphics, a 640GB SATA hard drive, 18x SuperDrive and an HDMI an VGA outputs.

Unlike SFF SX series, the DX is packed in a rather classic looking mid-tower case and features a wide choice of AMD or Intel dual and quad-core CPUs up to 8GB of memory and optional Nvidia Geforce graphics. The base US $749.99 system includes AMD's Phenom X4 9750 running at 2.5GHz, ATI's Radeon HD 4650 with 1GB of memory, 8GB of DDR2 memory, 1TB SATA hard drive, and it features a full arrangement of ports including eight USB ports, mini HDMI and DVI port, card reader and much more.

The one that is most interesting is the DX series US $899.99 that includes the Gateway FHX2300 23-inch HDMI HD LCD screen capable of 1080p resolution at up to 75Hz refresh rate. This one features an Intel Core 2 Quad 8400 CPU, Nvidia's G210 GPU with 512MB of memory, 8GB of DDR3 memory, a 750GB SATA hard drive and the rest of the features that are same on the entire series.

All systems come with a 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium operating system, and should be available immediately. You can find the SX series here, while the DX series details and models can be found here.
