Intel's Dispute Finder keeps your news FUD free |

Takes the fun out of browsing
Intel boffins have come up with a new tool for keeping online content
FUD free, by highlighting disputed portions of text displayed in your
browser.
Dubbed Dispute Finder, the open source Firefox plug-in automatically
highlights text marked by other users as inaccurate or disputed.
Basically when you come across some info that doesn't sit well with
you, you can highlight it and report it, and obviously you have to put
in some arguments too, which will be an instant turn off for most forum
trolls and Wikipedia know-it-alls.
Once you've done that, it's up to other readers to vote your dispute up
or down, rate your sources for accuracy and, of course, add their own
sources and arguments. It all sounds quite interesting, but there's a
chance a two paragraph filler will end up the size of a cheap paperback
love novel once people are done with the discussion. Also, there's
always a chance the dispute, although correct, might be voted down
simply because it offends people or isn't shared by the majority of
readers who come across it.
Without the regular dose of sarcasm, with proper abuse safeguards and
further development, this really could turn out to be pretty
interesting concept.
