When an Atom just can't cut it

Apart from
the vase we talked about a couple of days back, Elitegroup has also put ION to use in another unconventional device.

The Fusion 1, which is in no way related to AMD's Fusion, is an ION-based all-in-one system, but it's not powered by those pesky little Atoms, but rather by proper Core 2 Duo CPUs.

However, CPU muscle is not the only thing it has going for it. The 21.5-screen offers full HD, and it's got a TV tuner as well, although we're not sure what kind of TV tuner. It also has SPDIF out, for connecting a surround system without much hassle, and it's got eSATA, HDMI, and even two miniPCIe slots. Thanks to its size it features a 3.5-inch internal drive, which means more capacity and faster transfer speeds. It also has room for a slim ODD.

There's always a downside, however, and we just think the design is a bit to flashy for this day and age. Loads of gloss, blue lights and shiny metallic bits. It's just a bit too much. We don't know the price or availability date, but it probably won't be nearly as cheap as small, Atom-based AIOs.
