After a long and “speculative” wait, Microsoft finally officially announced its next Zune player – the Zune HD. Unfortunately, there’s not much to get excited about, at least when it comes to currently known specs.

The provided specs more or less concur with previous leaks as the device features a 3.3’’ screen with 480x272 OLED capacitive touchscreen, HD Radio receiver, HD output, multi-touch functionality and an IE-based browser, but the press release isn’t saying much else about the specs.

The device comes with HD-compatible output allowing users to view supported HD video files in 720p via a docking station, which will of course have to be bought separately. Microsoft also says that this device will seamlessly integrate into the company’s Xbox Live service, making this device a “premium partner in the Xbox LIVE Video Marketplace, bringing an exciting catalog of TV and film to the platform”, but more on this when the company actually pulls it off on E3.
