DirectX 10.1 in Q4 2009

AMD plans two new IGP chipsets, the AMD 785G that we mentioned earlier, and a faster version that still doesn’t have a real name, and is codenamed RD880D. This new chipset also gets DirectX 10.1 based graphics that works at 700MHz, it supports 2x8X Crossfire as well as UVD 2.0.

It will interconnect with SB850, SB810 Southbridges and it uses 21mm FCBGA packaging and might even be a pin compatible to currently selling AMD 790GX. The RS880D should have 22W thermal design power and it can be expected at some point in Q4 2009.

In the same time, AMD plans to launch its new flagship RD890 discrete performance chipset and you can expect many new motherboards based on RD890 and RS880D.

RD890 and RS880D coming in 2H 09
