giant Microsoft has inked a deal with the dream maker Universal to bring its flicks to the Xbox Apparently the first title which will be available for download on the Xbox360 will be Shaun Of The Dead.

However Universal have not given Microsoft any real topical blockbusters. They are mostly back catalogue favourites such as Scarface, The Mummy Returns and Shaun of the Dead. However Redmond indicated that it is mostly a pilot scheme and if it takes off it might make a bid for NBC Universal's TV content.

The deal is being tested in the UK and Ireland, adds considerable value to the Xbox 360's burgeoning video-on-demand service. Currently around 300 movies are available to UK users, with Paramount, Warner Bros and MGM already supplying content.

It will cost £2.50 to download a movie, which remains on their console's hard drive for 14 days.
