CES 2009: Who's your daddy?

Two big
questions remain, who will be the first with 40nm, and ultimately, who will be faster?

We've learned that ATI might beat Nvidia with its 40nm product introduction after all. Sources close to Nvidia are telling us that they believe that they will be the first and win, and as we said before, it is their job to do that. ATI people believe the same. (And it's their job to do so, too. sub.ed.)

ATI has already taped out its RV740 and A11 silicon is already out in the wild with a good chance to see some 40 chips in early Q2 2009. Nvidia’s news of a March introduction of some 40nm chips might be too optimistic, but samples should be possible at this date.

ATI might have the chip out sooner, but again ATI's RV740 is a mainstream chip, while it is suspected that Nvidia will bring out a performance chip roughly at the same time.
