Telco AT&T is building an IPv6 data network for the U.S. Army in Germany. The network will  cost $23 million and will be rolled out by next year.

While many US government departments are supposed to be IP6 friendly, few have actually installed any gear. According to AT&T the Army is ahead of the curve with its new state-of-the-art data network.

The new network will support its operations in Grafenwoehr, Germany which is the home of the 7th Army Joint multinational Training Center (JMTC). AT&T is also installing and testing a new campus data network, which will
support Army personnel at 600 JMTC buildings. That installation is expected to be completed in January 2010.
