To use their FM database for scouting

Everton Football Club has made a deal with Sports Interactive to use their Football Manager database for scouting players as well as staff members.

Although such a decision might seem weird, anyone who’s ever played FM will definitely agree with it, as this game features some seriously detailed and extensive data on players and staff.

Miles Jacobson, head of Sports Interactive said he’s delighted, as he’s a long time Toffees fan, and added how he was sure that such things were done before but never officially.

So, being officially recognized means that this game can no longer be considered just a game, and I’m guessing it’s just a matter of time before some hard core FM players start coaching teams.
