Shanghai launch:
VP and GM of EMEA confirms

We had a quick chance to talk to the Vice president and General Manager of AMD EMEA Emilio Ghilardi, and he informed us that AMD plans to counter Intel with a platform.

You need good graphics that AMD has from ATI, a good chipset, again something that came from the ATI acquisition, and finally a good CPU to get the market’s attention.

AMD has learned a lot from Intel’s Centrino strategy and there is a big chance that there might be one master brand to counter that platform, all in order to simplify things for the end users.

AMD will naturally announce more 45nm based products most likely dual and three core versions of the current Shanghai / Deneb generation and some cashless versions in the future, all in order to compete Intel more efficiently. Naturally Mr Ghilardi didn’t want to go in any details about future products, and he rather said that we can expect some new products based on 45nm.

A platform can definitely work well in notebook market and we will keep our eyes open for new developments.
