Q3 was all about 65nm

Marvin
Bucket, Nvidia’s Chief Financial Officer, said to the world that most of the chips sold by Nvidia in Q3 2008 were 65nm. Nvidia was late with this transition and even Jensen admitted that this transition didn’t go as smoothly as they planned, and he did that in front of the world audience.

Nvidia was late with transition to 55nm, but they ramped up production nicely and they are about to sell more 55nm-based products in Q4. We still believe that there is a 55nm GT200, which will launch shortly and possibly make Nvidia look a bit better in this market.

ATI did a full switch to 55nm and both companies are planning a move to 40nm in early 2009. Nvidia has some market share to recapture but it will be tough as ATI’s lineup for 2008 with Radeon 4000 looks really great.
