Surrenders to Google

Telstra's Sensis
has turned into a cheese munching surrender monkey and given up its online search and mapping business to the glorious Google Empire.

The outfit said that it will provide its Yellow business listings to Google Maps and abandon its own search engine for one powered by Google.

The Aussie outfit,  which currently has the most comprehensive directory in Australia,  will be stored in Google Maps. Sensis had its own WhereIs online mapping site and search engine, which seems to have been totally outclassed by Google Maps and Google search.

Signing the surrender at Google's headquarters today, Sensis CEO Bruce Akhurst claimed the move was positive, as it would allow businesses advertising on Yellow to be found by the 2.5 million Australians who use Google Maps every month. He said that this was not the first step in a possible takeover of Sensis by Google.
