Review: Ray-tracing, plenty of performance and bright future for gaming

Back at a dedicated event during Gamescom 2018 in Cologne, Germany, Nvidia officially unveiled the new Geforce RTX series and the Turing GPU, but only gave a glimpse of what is coming and what it will mean for future gaming, and that future is bright in our book.

CD Projekt Red raised a lot of attention with its latest gameplay demo video, showing some impressive graphics and gameplay, but judging from the alleged leak, it appears it will also support Nvidia Hairworks and Ray Tracing when it launches.

Lack of competition dictates

Lack of competition is what allows Nvidia to price products however high it wants to and even lets its AIB partners go a little bit crazier with their custom cards. RTX is definitely a step forward in computer graphics but it will take time for RayTracing to become really necessary and get down to reasonably priced markets.

Preparing for the availability of its first Geforce RTX 20-series graphics cards, Nvidia has also released all the gaming trailers and demos that use some of the RTX technologies, like the Ray Tracing.
