$3.16 billion, data center 22 percent revenue growth

The fiscal year 2020 (April 2019 to April 2020) was a challenging year for anyone trading with China due to the US government pressures on Huawei. Despite all these challenges, Xilinx managed to make $3.16 billion revenue or three percent higher, year over year.

Analysis: CTO mindset

There was a lot of discussion about Intel’s CEO's recent presentation at the Credit Suisse technology conference. Bob Swan commented that he is willing to give up the 90 percent mark share mindset. He would instead get 30 percent of all silicon market valued at $288 TAM.

CEO Victor Peng made the difference

Xilinx announced that at the end of its fiscal year 2019 the company reached record revenues of $3.06 billion for the fiscal year 2019, up 24 percent from the previous fiscal year. The three pillar strategy is playing out, with the data center first but it is clear that the company has AI, networking and 5G well embedded in its roadmap.

AI is the elephant in the room

Think 2019: Project Debater AI

IBM  showed off something very significant today, and dared to challenge someone who claimed to be the European's best debater in an attempt to win an argument. The judge declared a human as a winner, but the AI machine did a great job while offering comprehensive amount of data to back the argument. This is as big as IBM's  Big Blue supercomputer beating Kasparov in 1997.

Things to get better

Xilinx is a company that makes great products and technology but in the past didn’t manage to penetrate the mainstream IT media’s due to the complexity of its products. That is all changing now, the company with its Datacenter, AI, 5G and Automotive aspirations managed to grab a lot of attention and score 34 percent year on year growth.

Bob Swan it is

Intel has just announced that Robert (Bob) Swan, its current interim CEO, is the new CEO of the company. After a rather long search that's lastest since the departure of Brian Krzanich, the board has approved  Swan as the permanent CEO position.

Johny Srouji stays at Apple 

Well placed sources have confirmed that Johny Srouji from Apple is unlikely to be the new CEO of Intel. Infortunately that doesn’t actually help us to answer who will be the next leader.

5G, big data and processing

Simon Seagers, ARM’s CEO talked about the 5^th wave of computing and that is obviously the one that is coming after the last big leap that brought us closer to mobile and cloud mix.
