To Sodomy: AMD don't have the money or the resources to fully compete with Intel head on. Just as the other posters said, as long as AMD can compete in Price/Performance, we in the end will benefit. The days of AMD vs. Intel IMO are over "For Now". Right now the important step for AMD is to release efficient performing CPU's, increase the R&D and gain back market share, while increasing profits….. If they can do this along with pumping out innovative products such as they've been doing for a long time now, they will succeed and come back with a vengeance for a head to head competition vs. Intel.

I'll put it very simple: I just want AMD to give us an equivalent CPU with a better graphic core [of course] than Intel, for a better price. That should kick them in the teeth, indeed. ;) And we the consumers will profit the most, of course. d= ;)

Not necessarily, a lot of people want better performance and graphics coming out of their computers, but at the same time drop the bulky PC. If AMD makes it properly, it would be a great notebook APU.

actually 20-30% inmprovement if followed on to the desktop would see AMD competing with the 2600 (and even beating it is a couple of feilds). only issue is ivy bridge, if it is also a step up then we are back to square one with amd.

Yes read this on TechPowerUp yesterday morning. This is good news and some much needed help for AMD. I know for a fact AMD is spilling all their resources into Trinity (LIano's replacement) with the new HD graphics and Piledriver Cores. If they stick to their projections and slides, we should see approx: 20% to 30% performance improvement over the current LIano based processors with equal or better thermals. This IMO should easily translate into Desktop versions based on Enhanced Bulldozer (Piledriver) cores. It may not be enough to kick Intel in the teeth, but should be enough to cause a ripple effect and allow for fair Price/Performance offerings by both.
