Only on OEM parts... these are actually the first parts of Kepler that will be released, while the retail parts will be really expensive but also competitive. They have low stakes in retail but really high ones on OEM, that's where they get most of their revenue.

This is all silliness. What will Nvidia do to compete? They will lower prices! The Video Card game is always so diverse with different models and two or three generations of cards being sold at the same time from both companies that ultimately, the prices tell the story. Every model card will claim some price point relative to the performance. If Nvida is behind AMD in performance, you can bet the 7970 will cost a premium and Nvidia will slash prices to remain attractive. Just like AMD charged less for its best single GPU card compared to Nvidia in the 6970 vs 580 situation. These things are always benchmarked to hell and usually are priced accordingly.

"What to do until Kepler arrives?" How about drop the price of the still ridiculously over priced GTX 580! That card was overpriced at launch! Let alone in 2012!!

15yrs ago i bought my first nVidia card. One year later it died (sound familiar?). The sad news wasn't just the warranty situation but the fact i wasn't a serious gamer then. In fact when i took the card out my PC it was still shiny new. This really knarked me. Ever since then I've bought ATI cards and laughed at cards like the 460 etc for their heat problems and how i escaped all that hassle years ago. Now... well, i'm starting to like the idea of Keplar. Why? well you see, over those years i've always admired nVidia's driver support and wished ATi had the same optomisations and profile settings. Even when nVidia had to compensate Dell, HP etc for chip failures I knew their attitude towards customers had reached full circle. Now i eagerly await Keplar, its CUDA, PhysX and all its glory.

Kepler will be fantastic! Don't worry about Nvidia. They have the best R and D and tons of cash to solve problems. The pro market demands the very best and they own it. Kepler is a big leap in performance.
